Pledge to make your own furniture polish

Let’s eliminate another container that you bring home from the store, use, then haul out to the trash again. You will also keep harmful chemicals out of your home that could harm children or pets (and of course the environment), and while we are at it let’s save some money. We are going to show you a simple recipe to make your own furniture polish. It’s easy, safe, inexpensive and sustainable.

Some commonly used ingredients that are good to have around your home to make cleaning supplies are vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and lemons.

Here are the ingredients you'll need for furniture polish

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil

  • ¼ cup distilled white vinegar

  • ¼ teaspoon lemon oil or fresh lemon juice

Place all the ingredients in a reusable spray bottle and mix. We usually triple or quadruple the recipe, so we don't have to remake it so often.

We've been using this recipe for about four years, our furniture looks clean and shiny, and we haven't noticed any difference from the products that we used to buy at the store. We know what all of the ingredients are, we can pronounce them, and (best of all) we know they're safe for us and the environment.
